The Abu Dhabi T10 Season 6 witnessed some explosive knocks on Sunday. Tom Kohler-Cadmore blazed through the Delhi Bulls with his spectacular 82 in 33 balls, whilst Nicholas Pooran continued his terrific form with another big performance.
However, the moment of the day belongs to the West Indian batter Rovman Powell, who steered Northern Warriors to their first win of the tournament against Bangla Tigers.
Rovman Powell takes down Amir in a spectacular run chase
Skipper Rovman Powell led by example for his side, who were struggling to make their presence felt in the tournament after losing the opening three games. Powell ensured his team didn’t suffer a fourth defeat on the trot with a spectacular 76 in 28 balls.
Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir was handed a crucial eighth over with Warriors requiring 37 runs in three overs. The Caribbean powerhouse did not let the bowler settle, and began his onslaught with a massive six over long-off.
After picking up a double off the next ball, Powell played another exquisite shot to clear the extra-cover boundary for a six. He picked up three more runs and amassed 18 runs in the over, bringing the required rate under 10 for the first time in the match.
He smashed two sixes in the next over off Rohan Mustafa, leaving just five runs to win in the last over. Warriors won the match by six wickets and four balls to spare, as Powell was awarded Player of the Match for his heroic innings.
Earlier in the match, Hazratullah Zazai (37 in 21 balls) and Evin Lewis (38 in 15 balls) powered the Bangla Tigers to 117/4 in 10 overs. Lewis gave the side a brilliant finish, scoring 23 runs in the final over of the innings off Rayad Emrit.
Karim Janat steers Morrisville to third consecutive win
Morrisville Samp Army are taking the ADT10 by a storm, winning three matches on the trot to kickstart their first season in the tournament. They defeated The Chennai Braves by eight wickets in the second match of the day.
The bowlers did a fantastic job in the first innings for Morrisville. Anrich Nortje (2/11) and Ahmed Raza (1/15) restricted the Braves to 105/4 in 10 overs. Dawid Malan (32 in 20 balls) was the top run-scorer for the batting side.
Karim Janat was the star of the night for the only unbeaten team in the tournament. The Afghan batter smashed 58 runs in 28 balls, which included six big hits out of the park. His explosive knock ensured they got to the winning mark with four balls to spare.
Kohler-Cadmore steers Gladiators to another win
Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Nicholas Pooran continued their wonderful form for the Deccan Gladiators, who won their third match of the tournament against Delhi Bulls.
Cadmore finished with 82 runs in 33 balls, which included eight fours and six sixers whilst skipper Pooran scored 34 in 17 deliveries. They smashed 140 runs in 10 overs for the loss of two wickets.
Tim David (48 in 24 balls) and Rilee Rossouw (28 in 15 balls) kept the Bulls in the match until the final over, but they fell short by 18 runs.
