Northern Warriors proved once again that T10 cricket is a game for the batters. On Monday, three of the four teams scored more than 100 runs in their innings.

Swashbuckling knocks from Paul Stirling, Adam Lyth and Usman Khan helped their teams score big totals. However, Karim Janat’s three wickets in four balls against the New York Strikers is our Moment of the Day.

Karim Janat’s magical spell foxes New York Strikers

After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, Morrisville Samp Army did not have the best of starts with the ball. Despite the wickets of Paul Stirling and Andre Fletcher, the New York Strikers smashed 64 runs in the first five overs.

Karim Janat, the Afghanistan medium pacer, contained Azam Khan and Eoin Morgan for just two runs off the first four balls of the sixth over. With a full ball on the stumps, Janat cramped Morgan for room, forcing him to find the fielder at long-on.

On the next ball, Kieron Pollard came down the track to attack Janat. However, the short ball nipped back in, finding the edge of the bat before being caught by the keeper.

On a hat-trick, the 24-year-old bowled the final over. Janat was whacked for a four on the first ball, denying him a triple. However, he got rid of Wahab Riaz on the next ball with a length delivery outside off stump. While conceding only three runs of the last four balls of the final over, Janat completed a successful spell of 2-0-9-3, with the three wickets coming in just four balls.

Thanks to Janat’s efforts, Samp Army reduced the New York Strikers to 110/8, despite Azam Khan’s 47 off 21 and a 13-ball 34 from Paul Stirling.

Moeen Ali and Johnson Charles started the run chase on a flier, scoring 37 runs off the first three overs. While Charles was dismissed in the fourth over, Ali and new batter Shimron Hetmyer kept the run chase alive.

Kieron Pollard, Paul Stirling and Jordan Thompson kept the runs in check during the second half of the innings. When Hetmyer and Ali got dismissed, the Strikers took control of the match, restricting Samp Army to 98/5, to win by 12 runs.

Northern Warriors register first ADT10 Season 6 victory

Northern Warriors displayed batting of the highest calibre in the Abu Dhabi T10 Season 6 on Monday. Rovman Powell and Co. chose to bat after winning the toss, and the openers delivered the goods early on.

Usman Khan and Adam Lyth stitched a 97-run opening partnership, taking the Warriors close to the three-figure mark by the seventh over.

Usman, who smashed six fours and five sixes in his 65 off 24, tormented The Chennai Braves bowlers. While Usman peppered anything short, Lyth took full advantage of the fuller deliveries in his 25-ball 54. Adam Hose’s late heroics propelled the Warriors to 141/3 in 10 overs.

The Chennai Braves were never ahead of the eight-ball in the run chase. After losing Dawid Malan and Adam Rossington by the halfway mark, Carlos Brathwaite threatened to reignite the run chase. However, he was dismissed for a 13-ball 27 in the seventh over.

Wayne Parnell, Abhimanyu Mithun and Mohammad Irfan kept a lid on the scoring. Despite James Fuller’s 36 off 16, including three fours and two sixes, the Braves scored only 107/5 in 10 overs and suffered a 34-run defeat.
