The fifth edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 guarantees to be an entertaining affair. Like every season, this one promises to deliver some powerful hitting, feisty bowling, and showstopping fielding. Moreover, we are set to witness performances that will shatter old records and script some new ones.
To recap, let’s take a look at some of the records from Abu Dhabi T10 that are waiting to be broken.
Highest individual score: Chris Lynn – 91*
Chris Lynn is the undisputed king when it comes to batting in The Abu Dhabi T10. During the Super League stage in season 3, the explosive Maratha Arabians opener smacked an unbeaten 91 in just 30 balls against Team Abu Dhabi. With nine fours and seven sixes, Chris Lynn plundered the bowlers to all corners of the Zayed Cricket Stadium at a blistering strike rate of over 300 to guide his team to a massive score of 138. He would have, perhaps, recorded the first century of the tournament but he faced just four balls in the final three overs that left him stranded in the 90s.
Best bowling figures: Pravin Tambe – 5/15
The experienced Sindhis’ bowlerPravin Tambe ran through the Kerala Knights batting line-up like a hot knife slicing through butter in a group stage match of season 2. Bowling the first over, Pravin Tambe gave away six runs through extras without bowling a single legal delivery. However, in the next five balls, the leg spinner trapped four batsmen in his web, scalping the wickets of Chris Gayle, Eoin Morgan, Kieron Pollard, and Fabian Allen. Pravin Tambe claimed a hat-trick and ended the match with five wickets in his kitty.
Highest team score: Northern Warriors – 183/2
In the Abu Dhabi T10, teams have amassed huge totals on a regular basis but none of them could go past theNorthern Warriors’ effort from the 2018 edition. The Darren Sammy-led team reached 183 runs on the back of a Caribbean blitzkrieg. Openers Lendl Simmons and Nicholas Pooran added 107 runs for the first wicket, as the latter blazed through to 77 off just 25 deliveries. A late assault from Andre Russell (38 from nine) and Rovman Powell (21 off five) took the team to the record total in their allotted 10 overs. As many as 19 sixes were scored in the innings, accounting for 114 runs.
Most runs in a season: Chris Lynn – 371
When it comes to batting records in the Abu Dhabi T10, Chris Lynn’s mention has to be made. In season 3, Chris Lynn accumulated 371 runs, including four half-centuries, in eight matches at an average of 53. The Maratha Arabians’ glorious knocks at the start of the innings helped his team to their first-ever Abu Dhabi T10 title.
Most wickets in a season: Hardus Viljoen – 18
South African pacer Hardus Viljoen played an instrumental role in the Northern Warriors’ title-winning campaign of 2018. Hardus Viljoen picked up a wicket in all the matches, with his best performance coming against the Maratha Arabians when he scalped three wickets for a mere six runs. He ended the season with 18 wickets and was named the best bowler of the edition.
Most fours in a season: Chris Lynn – 29
Chris Lynn has built a reputation of being one of the hardest hitters of the ball. The Australian’s fearless style of batting makes him find the boundary consistently, and effortlessly. His terrific run with the bat in season 4 saw him hitting 29 fours, the most in a single edition of the Abu Dhabi T10.
Most sixes in a season: Nicholas Pooran – 33
Some of the most formidable batsmen of the world such as Yuvraj Singh, Chris Gayle, Shahid Afridi and Andre Russell have been a part of the Abu Dhabi T10. A common trait of all these batters is their knack for hitting big and out of the park. Out of all the mighty batsmen that have played in the 10-over tournament, Caribbean batter Nicholas Pooran holds the record for the most number of sixes in a season. The West Indian cleared the ropes a whopping 33 times in the 2018 edition and scored over 60 per cent of his runs only through sixes.
Fastest fifty: Mohammad Shahzad – 50 off 12

The Afghan cricketer lit up the stadium with a 16-ball 74, reaching his fifty in just 12 deliveries. The onslaught included eight sixes and six fours as the Rajputs chased Sindhis’ 94 in only four overs.
