In a format which can prove to be a nightmare for the bowlers, Northern Warriors’ all-rounder Wayne Parnell managed to pick up a crucial hat-trick in a group phase match of the 2021 campaign. Defending a respectable total of 137, Parnell picked up important wickets of Sherfane Rutherford, Dwayne Bravo and Ali Khan in the ninth over to restrict Delhi Bulls to 105/7, helping his team to a 32-run victory.

Facing quality bowlers like Mohammad Irfan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman is no easy task but that didn’t deter West Indies batter Nicholas Pooran from going on a famous rampage. Match no. 11 of the 2021 season saw the Bangla Tigers take on Northern Warriors. Batting first, Warriors’ skipper Nicholas Pooran took matters into his own hands and smashed 89 runs off 26 balls at a humongous strike rate of 342.30 with the help of three fours and 12 sixes. The blistering knock guided his team to a 30-run victory.

Chasing 98, the Team Abu Dhabi opening batsman remained unbeaten en route to his 22-ball 84, powering his team to an easy nine-wicket win over Maratha Arabians. The big-hitter blasted six fours and nine sixes in his entertaining knock.

In the second eliminator of the 2021 edition, Fabien Allen showcased his capabilities with the ball to help his team’s progression to the final. Team Abu Dhabi batters fell like a pack of cards against Allen’s disciplined bowling as he bagged 4/13 in his quota of two overs. Northern Warriors’ batters did the rest of the job to ensure a spot in the finale.

Wanindu Hasaranga’s five-star performance

In a match-up against Bangla Tigers during the league stage of the fifth edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 League, Deccan Gladiators’ Hasaranga rattled the opposition batting line-up with a fantastic spell of 5/8 in two overs, which included one maiden over as well. Furthermore, he was adjudged as the ‘man of the tournament’ for taking 21 wickets across 12 innings at an average of 9.28

Tom Kohler-Cadmore brews up a storm…

The English cricketer has time and again displayed what he is capable of. In an encounter against the Bangla Tigers, Tom Kohler-Cadmore came out all guns blazing to hit a 39-ball 96 at a strike rate of 246.15 to register the best individual score in Abu Dhabi T10’s fifth season. The bowlers backed up his hard-hitting act with an airtight display, as Deccan Gladiators cruised to a 62-run victory.

The West Indian and the Englishman put on an exhibition of some beautiful shots at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. In a match-up against formidable Team Abu Dhabi in the league phase of the fifth edition, Northern Warriors were set a huge target of 146 runs in 10 overs. However, it proved to be a cakewalk for the Warriors as their opening duo Kennar Lewis and Moeen Ali scored their respective half-centuries and forged an unbeaten opening partnership to make the substantial target look mediocre

Delhi Bulls deny Team Abu Dhabi in a match of thin margins

The Qualifier-2 of the fifth edition saw Delhi Bulls lock horns with Team Abu Dhabi for a final berth. An all-round bowling display helped Team Abu Dhabi restrict their opponents to 109/7 and it seemed like the coveted spot in the finale was within grasp. However, their batters failed to close the deal when they came out to chase. Dominic Drakes crushed Team Abu Dhabi’s hopes of entering the final with the figures of 4/13 in two overs. Fazal Haque wreaked havoc at the other end with a fiery 3/5, bundling out the Liam Livingstone-led side for 60 runs.

Deccan Gladiators’ openers Andre Russell and Tom Kohler-Cadmore toyed with the Delhi Bulls’ bowlers to light up the finale and put up a daunting total of 159/0. The man from the Caribbean played a scintillating knock of 32-ball 90 at an amazing strike rate of 281.25. The knock ultimately helped his team clinch their maiden title.
